Pure Chevy Power
For the first time ever Chevrolet has mounted the Corvette’s high-performance V-8 engine behind the driver, in the middle of the chassis alternatively to be placed in the car’s nose. This in turn puts more weight over the driving wheels creating a sports car that launches harder and can carry even more speed. The crown jewel in the Chevrolet Corvette is a 6.2-liter V-8 that generates 490 horsepower at 6,450 rpm and 465 lb-ft of torque at 5,150 rpm. With the Z51 package performance exhaust, the V-8 can push out 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The V-8 is connected to a sophisticated eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with manual-shift capabilities.
Driver Inspired Cockpit
The interior cabin of the 2022 Corvette is inspired by fighter jets as the dashboard swirls towards the drive with a unique combination of craftsmanship and technology. Lined with materials such as luxurious leather and real metal trim, the two-seater cockpit has a futuristic look and feel. As the driver sits behind a squared-off steering wheel, an 8.0-inch touchscreen display is angled toward the driver for more convenience, and a 12.0-inch diagonal reconfigurable digital instrument display shows the driver everything they need to know. The 2022 Corvette offers two trunk areas for all your cargo, one place ahead of the passenger compartment, and the other behind the engine, for a total of 13 cubic feet of storage space.
Exterior Design
For 2022, the Corvette features its traditional design that brings out elements of exotic cars with its low, muscular style. With the engine now placed behind the driver, the Corvette no longer has a need for a longer hood, placing the driver closer to the front axle for a better feeling of control. Below the pointed nose of the Corvette is a wide lower grille and large air intakes with another set of intakes along the doors and widening out at the rear fenders. The roof of the 2022 Corvette angles downward and has a clear engine cover, while the coupe has a pair of roof panels that can be removed for open-air driving.
